SEOUL — South Korean authorities arrived at President Yoon Suk Yeol’s official residence here early Wednesday to execute an arrest warrant for the impeached leader, according to the acting president’s office.
Investigators were trying to enter the residence by showing the warrant, but Yoon’s security guards were blocking them, local media reported. The authorities warned the guards that they would be arrested as well unless they opened the doors. Media reports showed police climbing the mountain behind the residence to try to gain access.
