TOKYO — The first entry in Honda Motor’s 0 Series of electric vehicles debuted on public roads Wednesday at a Formula One event, as the Japanese automaker builds up to the release of the new brand on which its growth hopes ride.

Around 12,000 spectators attended the showrun at Tokyo’s Odaiba waterfront ahead of the Japanese Grand Prix that begins Friday. The parade of vehicles kicking off the event was led by the Honda 0 SUV, making its first public appearance in Japan.
