TOKYO — Toyota and Honda will leave sticker prices unchanged for now after the Trump administration slapped a 25% tariff on all imported vehicles, in an effort to avoid turmoil in a major market.
Some in the industry worry that the new tariff, which went into effect Thursday, will lead to a drop in vehicle and auto parts manufacturing in Japan. The Japanese Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA) is pressing both the government and Japan’s ruling coalition for support.
