TOKYO/SHANGHAI — China’s “national team” of investors has swung into action as U.S. President Donald Trump’s tariffs rattle stock markets worldwide.
These investors have emerged to buy up shares in an effort to support prices, and perhaps more importantly, send a clear message from the state that it is ready to do what it takes to maintain stability.
