TOKYO — Japanese convenience store chain Lawson aims to increase the number of its overseas stores to 14,000 in the coming six years, mainly in Asia, to equal its current number in Japan.

The retailer plans to accelerate growth in Southeast Asia by entering franchise agreements with local retail partners in addition to opening directly managed stores. The company will also look into the possibility of expanding to additional countries.
