70 injured in Nushki oil tanker explosion
QUETTA: As many as 70 people injured driver killed as tragic oil tanker explosion in Nushki area of Balochistan province.
Police officials the truck was parked at the terminal and People were welding on the oil laden truck when it caught fire.
Police said that as soon as the fire started, the truck driver drove the truck out of the terminal and took it to an open field. The driver died on the spot due to severe burns.
After receiving information about the fire in the truck, a fire brigade vehicle and police officials reached the spot. During this time, the oil tank inside the truck exploded.
Due to the fire, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Muhammad Sharif, four police officers, and more than 70 other people were received burn injuries. The fire brigade vehicle also caught fire and was damaged .
The injured people were shifted to the hospital near Nushki Teaching Hospital for medical aid. The emergency was declared and doctors and paramedical staff were called in.
About 37 severely injured people were shifted to Quetta through the helicopter for advanced medical treatment. The Injured people were admitted to the Civil Hospital Quetta and Burn Ward at Bolan Medical College.
Spokesperson of the provincial government said an investigation into the accident has been initiated.
Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti, during a visit to Civil Hospital Quetta, announced that the government was prepared to shift the injured to Karachi for advanced medical care.
He said helicopters would be made available for those who opt for it, while a C-130 milit aircraft could also be arranged if required.
