Karachi police strengthen security for Northern Bypass cattle market routes
KARACHI: Deputy Inspector General (DIG) West Irfan Baloch announced that the police will deploy more than 1,000 personnel and commandos along the routes leading to Karachi’s central cattle market at the Northern Bypass.
Irfan Baloch, accompanied by SSP West Tariq Mastoi and officials from other law enforcement agencies, visited the cattle market at Northern Bypass and reviewed the security arrangements.
Speaking to newsmen, the DIG West said that no robbery incidents have been reported on the routes to the Northern Bypass cattle market over the past three years due to the efforts of the police.
Irfan Baloch stated that more than 1,000 personnel from the police and law enforcement agencies will be deployed on the routes to the cattle market. He added that law enforcement agencies remain in constant contact with the cattle market administration.
The DIG West stated that a control room has been established to monitor the situation. He mentioned that Rangers have also been assigned security duties alongside the police, while personnel from the CTD and Special Branch have been deployed to ensure the safety of citizens.
Cattle Market Administrator Shahab Ali stated that the participation of vendors in the market has been affected due to their animals being stranded on roads following road closures in Sindh.
The cattle market administration has introduced a token system for animals for the first time to facilitate traders and buyers.
“If you purchase ten animals, you will be provided with ten tokens for the animals, by showing which you will be able to easily take your purchased sacrificial animal outside the limits of the cattle market. This step has been taken for the protection and safety of sacrificial animals”.
The market will provide an ATM facility for the convenience of traders and buyers.
“While considering the interests of the citizens, a huge discount of up to 50 percent has been given in parking fees.”
The administration allows traders in general blocks to bring standard tents with them. It has also provided a big relief by offering tents at a discounted price in the VVIP and VIP blocks.
“If traders in VVIP and VIP blocks set up their tents, they will have to pay a discounted price to the administration based on the space”.
Organizers state that the tent must meet the standards of the cattle market. If a standard tent is unavailable, traders can take a tent from the administration at discounted rates.
Traders and cattle owners coming from Punjab and Sindh are already receiving all possible facilities even before the inauguration of the cattle-friendly market.
