CAMBRIDGE, Massachusetts — Eliminating USAID and other steps by the Trump administration have weakened U.S. influence in the world, said Joseph Nye, the Harvard University professor emeritus who coined the term soft power.
Nye’s theory of soft power argues that elements like culture, values and foreign aid can exert influence comparable with that of milit might or other forms of hard power.
