WASHINGTON — The Trump administration should phase in tariffs against Chinese goods “over a number of years” so businesses can better plan their response, Chris Griswold, policy director at conservative think tank American Compass, told Nikkei in a recent interview.

The U.S. and China have imposed tit-for-tat tariffs on each other since U.S. President Donald Trump took office in Janu, with American tariffs on imports from China now standing at 145%.
