TOKYO — Japanese automaker Nissan Motor will cut seven of its 17 factories under its new CEO’s sweeping restructuring strategy aimed at turning the loss-making company around.

Nissan will consolidate its factories in Thailand, and move production in Argentina to Brazil as part of those plans, President and CEO Ivan Espinosa said in a press conference on Tuesday. He added that the company is undertaking “a global assessment, including Japan.”
