Pakistan, India exchange prisoners at Wagah border
LAHORE: Pakistan and India have exchanged one prisoner each at the Wagah-Attari border post, according to security sources.
Security officials reported that Indian Border Security Force personnel Pranam Kumar Shah was handed over to Indian authorities. In return, Muhammadullah of Punjab Rangers was handed over to Pakistani officials.
India’s Border Security Force personnel were arrested by Pakistani forces while Punjab Rangers officer was arrested by Indian forces for border violations.
It is to be remembered that after the ceasefire between the two countries, DG milit operations were contacted on May 12 in which the ceasefire was agreed.
Earlier,funeral prayer for Irtaza Abbas, the seven-year-old son of Lieutenant Colonel Zaheer Abbas who was martyred due to unprovoked Indian cross-border shelling in Dawarandi, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, was held in Islamabad.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed that the prayer was attended by President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir, and Naval Chief Admiral Naveed Ashraf.
