TOKYO — Japan Display announced Thursday that it will cut approximately 1,500 employees, more than half of its domestic workforce, as it seeks to restructure its business amid continuing losses.

The Japanese panel supplier will offer volunt retirement to employees. The company aims to reduce annual labor costs by 13.5 billion yen ($92.5 million). Personnel reductions will also be implemented overseas.
