TOKYO — Japanese technology groups Hitachi and Toshiba are expanding production of power distribution equipment in India as the nation rapidly develops its infrastructure to be more welcoming to global manufacturers.
Hitachi Energy intends to spend around 40 billion yen ($275 million) for additional investments in India over the next five years. The Hitachi subsidi will increase capacity to make transformers, switchgears and other power grid equipment.
