TOKYO — With the 2025 World Expo in Osaka attracting visitors from abroad to Japan, local governments and tourism businesses across western parts of the country are using this opportunity to entice more visitors.
Currently, foreign visitors to Japan often travel the “Golden Route” comprising Tokyo, Mount Fuji, Kyoto and Osaka. Municipalities in areas west of Osaka hope that travelers will extend their itineraries — and their spending — beyond that route.
