Budget FY2025-26 to present on June 10
The federal budget for the next fiscal year 2025-26 will now be presented on June 10. This was confirmed by a spokesperson from the Ministry of Finance.
The Economic Survey, which gives an overview of the country’s economic performance, will be released a day earlier on June 9. The budget was initially planned for June 2 but has now been delayed.
Today marked the final round of discussions with the IMF, but both sides could not agree on the budget targets. Talks with the IMF are expected to resume next week.
Earlier, an IMF delegation led by Jihad Azour met with President Asif Ali Zardari in Islamabad. Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, Senator Saleem Mandviwalla, and other senior officials also attended the meeting. They discussed the country’s economic conditions and the progress of the current IMF programme.
