ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif arrived in the city of Lachin, Azerbaijan to participate in Pakistan-Turkiye-Azerbaijan Trilateral Summit.
At Lachin airport, the prime minister was received by the Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan Qasim Mohiuddin and other diplomatic staff.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar and Special Assistant to PM Tariq Fatemi accompanied the prime minister.
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif along with President of Turkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan and President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev will participate in the Pakistan-Turkiye-Azerbaijan Trilateral Summit.
The prime minister will also hold a bilateral meeting with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
Earleir, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized Pakistan’s appreciation for Iran’s role within the Muslim Ummah and expressed a commitment to working together toward shared objectives of peace, progress, and unity.
In a post on X, he wrote: “It was an honour to call Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of Iran. I sought his insights on the pressing challenges currently facing the Muslim world. We also discussed key bilateral and regional matters of mutual concern.”
He added, “I expressed gratitude for Iran’s efforts as a mediator and its solidarity with Pakistan during the recent crisis in South Asia.”
