JAKARTA — Sri Mulyani Indrawati said she had been asked to stay on as Indonesia’s finance minister after a meeting with Prabowo Subianto on Monday night, potentially easing investor worries over the new government’s fiscal discipline amid the president-elect’s ambitious policy program.
However, the well-respected technocrat did not say whether she had accepted the offer. She had been expected to leave the cabinet over previous disagreements with Prabowo regarding defense procurement to modernize Indonesia’s aging milit equipment.
