The federal government has decided to give 70 percent of energy-saving fans to people on easy monthly installments, with the payments taken directly through their electricity bills.

The Ministry of Energy said this plan is meant to help reduce electricity bills by encouraging the use of low-wattage fans, which use almost half the electricity compared to regular ceiling fans.

The Ministry also confirmed that the Rs. 7.41 per unit electricity tariff relief announced by the Prime Minister is still active.

Energy-saving ceiling fans use only 45 to 55 watts of power, while traditional fans use around 80 to 130 watts. A home using four of these energy-saving fans could save 70 to 80 units of electricity each month and lower their electricity bills by up to 15 percent.

The Ministry added that provincial governments and federal departments have been told to strictly follow energy-saving building rules in all public buildings.

Officials also said that using energy-efficient appliances will not only help people reduce their bills but will also help the country during times of energy shortage.
