Karachi jolted by ninth earthquake in 24 hours

Karachi experienced another light earthquake on Monday evening, making it the ninth tremor in the city within just 24 hours, according to the Meteorological Department.

The most recent quake occurred at 8:49 pm with a magnitude of 3.0. al Seismic Monitoring Centre in Islamabad said the epicenter was about 30 kilometers east of DHA and 13 kilometers deep.

Thankfully, there have been no reports of any damage or injuries from these tremors.

Officials have warned that mild earthquakes may continue in Karachi for the next couple of days. People are advised to stay calm and follow safety guidelines if tremors occur again.

Earlier in the day, Karachi had felt another minor quake, measuring 3.2 in magnitude. Its epicenter was near Quaidabad, and it had a shallow depth, making it noticeable in various parts of the city. Areas like Quaidabad, Malir, Landhi, Sherpao Colony, and Port Qasim felt the tremors. Many residents rushed outdoors in fear.

Late Sunday night at 1:06 am, a 3.2 magnitude earthquake had also shaken parts of the city. That tremor’s epicenter was near Gadap Town, and it was felt in areas such as Khokhrapar, Malir, Landhi, Quaidabad, Future Mor, Gul Ahmed, and Hospital Chowrangi. No damage or injuries were reported in that incident either.
