KARACHI: Just as many were planning their Eid getaways to the beach, the Commissioner Karachi has taken action to ban swimming in the sea throughout the holiday period. This news comes as a dampener for residents hoping to cool off by the coastline during the festive break.

The ban, enforced by the Commissioner under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code means no one is allowed to enter the sea in Karachi. This crucial decision was made in response to rough sea conditions and unusually high tides, which pose significant dangers for swimmers. The official notification states this restriction will be in effect starting from the Eid holidays and lasting until June 13.

This prohibition on sea swimming is a critical safety measure, aimed at preventing potential accidents and ensuring public well-being during the busy Eid celebrations. The Commissioner’s office emphasizes that public cooperation with these directives is essential to avoid any untoward incidents in the challenging water conditions.
