Punjab Govt forms committee to probe alleged rape of student
LAHORE: Punjab Government has constituted a high level committee to investigate the incident of alleged rape of a student of a private college in Gulberg.
Chief Minister Mam Nawaz has announced the formation of a committee to investigate the alleged rape of a female student in Lahore, which will investigate and submit a report to the Chief Minister within 48 hours.
According to the notification, a 6-member committee will work under the chairmanship of Chief Secret Punjab, while Secret Home, Advocate General Punjab, Secret Higher Education, Secret Special Education, Secret Specialized Healthcare and Medical Health will be members of the committee.
According to the officials, the committee can appoint any other member for assistance. The committee will collect evidence regarding the alleged rape of the student and will also record the statements of the students, teachers and management of the college.
Officials said that the committee will review all aspects including the immediate response of the college administration and handling of the issue by the police.

It should be noted that the news of a private college student being allegedly raped by a security guard reported yesterday in Gulberg, after which the students boycotted the classes and started protesting across the city.
