Air India passenger plane has crashed in Ahmedabad, resulting in 241 passengers dead and 1 survived.

The aircraft, which was carrying over 242 people, including crew members and foreign nationals, crashed shortly after takeoff. Rescue operations are still underway, and authorities fear the number of casualties may rise further.

According to Indian media, there were 242 people on board the aircraft, including 230 passengers and 12 crew members.

Indian media reported that firefighters and police have been informed and are on their way to the crash site. All roads leading to the site have been closed following the incident.

The report stated that former Chief Minister of Gujarat, Vijay Rupani, was also on board the ill-fated aircraft. The Air India plane was en route from Ahmedabad to London when the crash occurred.

Indian media also reported that the passengers included 169 Indian nationals, 53 British citizens, 1 Canadian citizen, and 7 Portuguese citizens.

According to Ahmedabad police, 241 passengers, including crew members, have died in the crash. Among the deceased were 11 children, while only one passenger has survived.
