Israeli attacks on Iran threaten global peace, says Russia Foreign Ministry spokesperson

MOSCOW: The Russian Foreign Ministry has strongly condemned Israel’s recent airstrikes on Iran, calling them a clear violation of international law and the United Nations Charter.

In an official statement, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said the attacks on a sovereign UN member state were completely unacceptable. She warned that strikes on civilian areas and nuclear facilities in Iran could lead to dangerous radiation risks, urging global organizations to investigate the potential fallout.

Russia said the attacks came at a critical time just before a key International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) meeting and ahead of expected talks between Iran and the United States in Oman.

Zakharova accused Israel of deliberately escalating tensions in the region and expressed concern that IAEA staff and ordin Iranian citizens could have been harmed in the strikes. She also questioned the role of Western powers, stating that their anti-Iran resolutions are worsening the crisis.

Russia emphasized that the Iranian nuclear issue cannot be solved through milit action and called for all sides to remain calm, avoid war, and continue diplomatic negotiations.

The ministry urged the international community to focus on peaceful solutions and to protect the credibility of global institutions.
