Swat: All victims of the Swat River incident have been recovered, seven individuals lost their lives.

According to Rescue 1122 Swat, a tragic incident has resulted in the loss of 7 lives. Rescue personnel are on-site, and the operation is ongoing. The rescue teams are providing immediate medical assistance to the injured. Further details are awaited.

The incident occurred when the family, on a sightseeing trip from Sialkot to Swat, was sitting by the riverbank having breakfast. Suddenly, they were overwhelmed by the swift wave and carried away.

The Deputy Commissioner of Swat stated that swimming and approaching the river are prohibited under Section 144, but despite this, tourists continue to go near the river.

Pakistan Army has also reached the flood-affected areas of Swat to assist with relief efforts. The milit units, alongside Rescue 1122 teams, are participating in rescue and relief missions to provide immediate assistance to those affected.

The milit personnel are equipped with essential supplies, and rescue operations are ongoing in the affected regions. So far, three survivors have been rescued, and seven fatalities have been confirmed. If the situation worsens, additional units are planned to be deployed.

During this challenging time, the Pakistan Army is also working closely with local authorities to manage the emergency situation. Efforts are underway, with cooperation between the milit and local administration, to control the flooding and mitigate its impact.

A day earlier,  the rescue officials said that three people died and several others went missing after being swept away by the flash floods Swat river.

In a separate incident in Lower Dir, five people including two women, two children and one man were stranded in the seasonal streams of Munda and Khazana following sudden flooding.

Rescue 1122 along with the local welfare organizations launched an operation to safely evacuate those trapped by the floodwaters. The efforts are underway to ensure their rescue without injuries.

The authorities urged the residents in flood-prone areas to exercise caution and stay away from the rivers and seasonal streams during the monsoon.

President Zardari and PM Shehbaz express condolences over Swat River flash flood incident

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have expressed their profound grief over the tragic loss of lives resulting from the recent flash flood in the Swat River at Khwazakhela area.

Both conveyed their sympathies and condolences to the bereaved families and prayed to Allah for peace for the departed souls and strength for the grieved families to bear the loss.

“We equally share the grief of the affected families during this difficult time,” the president said.

Prime Minister Shehbaz directed the authorities concerned to swiftly complete the search and rescue operation for missing persons in the incident.

He instructed NDMA, the administration, and rescue agencies to further strengthen safety measures along rivers and streams.

The prime minister also praised NDMA, the administration, and rescue officials for rescuing tourists stranded due to the flash flood in Swat.
