MOSCOW: Russian President Vladimir Putin has given credit to United States President Donald Trump for the recent improvement in ties between Moscow and Washington.
According to international media reports, Putin made the remarks during a press conference, stating that efforts by Donald Trump have led to the beginning of a stabilization in bilateral ties.
The Russian president also expressed his deep respect for Trump and said he looks forward to meeting him.
He emphasized that the meeting must be prepared with utmost caution, but added that it is quite possible the meeting will take place.
He expressed gratitude to President Trump, noting that bilateral relations between the two countries have begun to improve in certain respects.
The Russian President said that the decision was not made in the realm of diplomatic relations, but the first steps have been taken and progress is underway.
