JAKARTA — Indonesia will complete the transfer of power on Sunday to Prabowo Subianto, a retired army general who secured the presidency on his third attempt.
Alongside Vice President-elect Gibran Rakabuming Raka, Prabowo has outlined a vision he calls Asta Cita — which means “eight goals” in Sanskrit. The plan comprises 17 priority programs that they want to complete in their five-year term. While Prabowo came up with some of the initiatives, such as a free meal program, others — refining minerals domestically and developing a new capital city — are the legacy of outgoing President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo.
