Pakistan’s registered voters exceed 130 million
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has announced that the country’s total number of registered voters has now surpassed 130 million.
The latest figures reveal that the voter base has reached 131.53 million, with 60.81 million female voters and 70.71 million male voters.
The ECP has faced considerable criticism, especially after the 2024 elections, with several political parties accusing it of mismanaging results, particularly regarding Form 47.
The Supreme Court recently voiced concerns in a ruling about reserved seats, criticizing the ECP for failing to adequately perform its duties during the Febru 2024 elections.
The court stressed that the ECP, as a key institution in the democratic process, should function as an impartial entity rather than taking on an adversarial role in electoral matters.
