NEW DELHI — Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping held a meeting on Wednesday on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in the Russian city of Kazan, a sign of growing rapprochement after a deadly 2020 clash along their disputed Himalayan frontier soured relations.

The meeting comes on the heels of a key border patrolling agreement announced earlier this week that is expected to pave the way to ending the four-year India-China border standoff.
