TOKYO — Hitachi announced on Monday that it will promote Executive Vice President Toshiaki Tokunaga to president and CEO on April 1. By elevating the information technology division’s leader to the very top, replacing 68-year-old Keiji Kojima, the Japanese electrical conglomerate expects to accelerate a growth strategy centered on digital business.

Kojima, the current president and CEO, will become vice chairman of the company. Executive Chairman Toshiaki Higashibara, who served as CEO from 2016 to 2022, will remain in the same post.
