Tahir Raj Bhasin is riding high on the success of Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein Season 2 and now is ready to turn the tables in season 3.
“It’s in a record time that the platform has announced that we’re going to have a Season 3,” he said. “Normally, they take a minimum of 2-3 months. It’s incredibly validating.”
The actor also expressed relief at overcoming the “season 2 curse.” “Having a sequel to a successful first season is always stressful because there are comparisons. There’s also a season 2 curse, which says that sequels rarely match up to audience and critic expectations. We’re on cloud nine because we smashed that myth,” Tahir said.
The renewal coincides with Tahir’s 10 years in the industry, marking a significant milestone since his debut in Mardaani (2014). Reflecting on his journey, he shared, “Transitioning to a romantic hero and doing something pulpy and dramatic, like an ode to 90s Bollywood, is the ideal way to celebrate.”
Discussing the show’s long gap between seasons, Tahir said, “As an audience, if I’ve liked something, I’ll return to see what happens next, no matter the time.” He also credited OTT platforms for offering him diverse opportunities: “OTT has given me genres I wasn’t getting to do before. It’s still early days, but I believe the opportunity to be a leading man will come in both cinema and OTT.”
