TAIPEI — TSMC supplier San Fu Chemical is eyeing growing opportunities in recycling chipmaking chemicals and reusing them in semiconductor manufacturing, as global chipmakers race to cut their carbon footprints and reduce waste.
San Fu Chemical Chairman Simon Wu said his company is expanding plants in the southern Taiwanese city of Tainan to process and purify used chemicals. Many chipmaking chemicals can be recycled for use in other applications, but relatively few can be reused in chipmaking due to the industry’s exacting purity standards.
