TOKYO — Japanese energy company Inpex plans to double the capacity of an existing geothermal power plant in Indonesia to 170 megawatts by around 2030, tapping deeper into the world’s second-largest geothermal reserves.

Inpex looks to decide soon on expanding the Muara Laboh thermal Power Project in western Indonesia, in which it has invested jointly with trading house Sumitomo Corp. and local companies.
