SHANGHAI — Chinese stocks fell on Wednesday morning after U.S. President Donald Trump said he is considering imposing a 10% tariff on goods imported from China on Feb. 1.

The CSI 300 Index, a benchmark for blue-chip stocks traded on mainland exchanges, was down more than 1% at one point. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index declined as much as 1.7% after rising for six straight trading days.
