TOKYO — Japanese automakers have been exporting more Mexican-built vehicles to the U.S. in recent months, apparently aiming to bulk up inventories ahead of the Trump administration’s latest tariffs.

The companies sent 217,000 vehicles to the U.S. from Mexico between December and Febru, based on data from industry intelligence firm MarkLines — up 17% from a year earlier.
