WASHINGTON/BEIJING — The U.S. and China will come to the negotiating table on Saturday for the first cabinet-level talks on trade since Donald Trump started his second term, and after the U.S. president suddenly suggested on Friday lowering tariffs on China from the current 145% to 80%.

The focus will be on how quickly the world’s two largest economies can deescalate their swiftly-growing trade war.
