TAIPEI — Taiwan’s foremost stateswoman is set to visit Britain, spotlighting how unofficial but substantive relations between the two island powers have blossomed.
Former President Tsai Ing-wen is due to arrive in the U.K. on Thursday, returning to the country where she obtained a Ph.D. in law from the London School of Economics and Political Science. While her trip is ostensibly a personal one, it comes after years of efforts by the U.K. and Taiwan to firm up ties.
