PENANG, Malaysia — Taiwan’s leading electronics component supplier is betting on production in Japan and Malaysia to boost its supply chain resilience as the industry confronts rising trade protectionism and “inevitably” escalating competition from China.
Passive System Alliance Chairman Chiao Yu-heng, who oversees 10 Japan- and Taiwan-listed subsidiaries making everything from passive components and antennas to printed circuit boards (PCB), said the group has been increasing investments in Japan and Malaysia to help it serve the Japanese market and meet global clients’ requests for “out of China” production.
