In a surprising admission, Indian Defense Attaché Captain Shiv Kumar confirmed that the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) shot down several Indian fighter jets during May. This marks the first time an Indian official has publicly acknowledged the damage, which India had kept secret for a long time.
Speaking at a seminar, Captain Kumar said, “Yes, Indian jets were indeed downed.” However, he attempted to downplay the situation by claiming that not as many jets were destroyed as reported. He avoided revealing the exact number.
Captain Kumar also shifted the blame for India’s weak response to its political leadership. He said the Indian Air Force couldn’t react strongly because of government instructions.

This statement follows a missile attack by India on the night of May 6–7, to which the PAF responded swiftly and decisively, shooting down multiple Indian aircraft.
Experts see this admission not only as a challenge to India’s official narrative but also as international recognition of the professionalism and effectiveness of the Pakistan Air Force.
