BANGKOK — The market for pickup trucks in Thailand has fallen into the doldrums. Sales of pickups, known in the country as “people’s cars,” are dropping. Lenders are less free with money for car buyers as the monet authorities seek to check rising household debt.
Isuzu Motors, a market leader, saw its unit sales in the first eight months of 2024 halved compared with last year. While Chinese automakers are making a global marketing push, one has delayed the introduction of a new model in Thailand, highlighting the breadth of the downturn.
