ISLAMABAD, Dec. 23 (Xinhua) — Pakistani Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir said on Sunday that the country’s army and law enforcement agencies (LEAs) have been working towards eliminating terrorism and extremism in all their forms, ensuring the restoration of lasting peace and stability in the South Asian country.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistan Army, said the army chief visited South Waziristan district of northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, where he underscored that the resilience and determination of Pakistan’s security forces to eliminate terrorism are the cornerstone of the nation’s sovereignty.

Terrorists and extremists would continue to be hunted down till their elimination along with facilitators, abettors and financiers, Munir said, adding that the terrorists will be made to pay the price for their nefarious activities against the state.

According to the ISPR, the army chief described the soldiers of the Pakistani armed forces and LEAs as the true heroes of the nation, whose bravery and selfless dedication inspire the entire country.
