TOKYO — Nearly 40% of Chinese executives expect the country’s relations with the U.S. to improve after Donald Trump returns to the White House next week, according to a survey of business leaders conducted by Nikkei, South Korea’s Maeil Business Newspaper and China’s Global Times. That makes them more optimistic about the incoming American president than their peers in both Japan and South Korea.

In the poll, 38% of Chinese executives said they expect either significantly or slightly improved ties with the U.S. after Trump’s inauguration, while 8% predicted relations will worsen.
