TOKYO — Japan and eight other members of an international fisheries commission agreed to reduce the quota for catching Pacific saury by 10% this year in response to severely depleted stock.

The North Pacific Fisheries Commission (NPFC) wrapped up an annual meeting held in Osaka on Thursday. In addition to Japan, participants included China and Taiwan.
