Pakistan, Nigeria reaffirm commitment to strengthen defence and security cooperation
Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, during his official visit to Nigeria, held important meetings with Nigeria’s civil and milit leadership to enhance bilateral cooperation in the areas of defence and security.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), General Sahir Shamshad Mirza met with Nigeria’s Defence Minister, Chief of Defence Staff, and the heads of the Nigerian Army, Navy, and Air Force. These meetings focused on strengthening ties between the two countries, particularly in counter-terrorism, milit collaboration, and professional exchange.
The ISPR said that the visit aims to further advance mutual defence cooperation and promote greater understanding between the armed forces of both nations. During the discussions, both sides reaffirmed their resolve to deepen cooperation in the defence and security sectors.
Nigeria’s leadership acknowledged the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces and paid rich tribute to their sacrifices in the fight against terrorism. They also praised Pakistan’s role in promoting regional and international peace.
The visit marks a significant step forward in Pakistan’s defence diplomacy and its efforts to build stronger partnerships with African nations.
