Former JI deputy chief professor Khurshid Ahmad passes away
Senator Professor Khurshid Ahmad, a distinguished scholar, author, and former Deputy Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, passed away in London. His death has left a deep sense of sorrow across academic, political, and religious circles throughout the country.
His funeral prayers will be held in London, while the final decision regarding his burial—whether in London or Pakistan—will be made by his family. His brother, Dr. Anis ur Rehman, is expected to travel to London from Islamabad tomorrow.
Professor Khurshid Ahmad was widely respected within Jamaat-e-Islami for his scholarly insight, dignity, and intellect. He was the founder of the renowned think tank “Institute of Policy Studies,” which continues to play a significant role in academic and policy-making circles in Pakistan.
He was also the author of several important books and was highly regarded for his profound writings on Islamic economics, policy-making, and social reform.
In the Senate of Pakistan, his intellectual and moral stature was such that even those who disagreed with him would listen in silence whenever he rose to speak. His contributions to Pakistan’s academic and political landscape will be remembered with great respect and admiration.
