TAIPEI — Apple is ramping up production of key products in India and Vietnam to take advantage of a 90-day grace period on U.S. tariffs, but China’s continued tightening of customs screenings is slowing such efforts, Nikkei Asia has learned.
The American tech giant began asking key suppliers to ramp up iPhone production in India earlier this year, but factory utilization rates there are already at the maximum, which makes adding capacity difficult, several people told Nikkei Asia.
